On 20 March 2022 we will turn 50 years old: a very important milestone for us, which we want to celebrate with the people who made it possible
Half a century has passed since, on 20 March 1972, Pio Ferretti founded the Pontex company and started its business of processing, finishing and customising clothing fabrics.
Over the years, Pontex has become one of the best-known companies in the Made in Italy shuttle fabric sector: the experience and skills acquired in ready-to-wear fashion enable it to identify the trends that will become established from season to season: this is how the two annual Autumn-Winter and Spring-Summer Collections are developed.
Today, the company is led by Letizia Ferretti, 2nd generation, and is a reference point in the clothing fabrics sector in Italy and abroad with over 7,000 customers served and more than 30 countries worldwide to which it exports.
50 years of history, 50 years of tradition, 50 years that are the result of work carried out with passion and tenacious dedication that has spanned generations, today a source of great satisfaction that has enabled the company to develop a strong identity.
“Even today, after 20 years, I still love this job, which forces me to always think of new things, to take different approaches, to study new proposals for clothing fabrics in line with market research in the fashion sector.
Letizia Ferretti, Pontex CEO and second generation of the company

“I started working at Pontex the day after I graduated,” says Letizia Ferretti, 43, Managing Director: it was 20 March 2002, a curious coincidence, 20 March coincides (albeit in a different year) with the day my father founded the company. I dreamed of a varied and dynamic job that would allow me to ‘use’ the languages I studied at university. There are no shortage of difficulties, especially when you have a family with two children, but even today, after 20 years, I still love this job, which forces me to always think of new things, to take different approaches, to study new proposals for clothing fabrics in line with market research in the fashion sector. It stimulates me to travel and meet customers from different countries, slowly with the end of the pandemic we started to travel the world again: with each customer there is a different relationship, because the approach is different depending on the culture and identity’.
‘These 50 years of activity,’ continues Letizia, ‘represent a solid foundation in what is still a very special and complex moment: the Covid situation has upset the balance in the fashion world. Despite the difficulties, the company has never stopped evolving within the global market with the same goal in mind: ‘customer satisfaction‘.
“To stay in this world,” concludes Pontex’s CEO, “we must continue to be flexible, adapt quickly to change, grasp every smallest need or request and satisfy it. My motto? The customer is king’.
Scrupulous control of product quality, excellence and uniqueness of the fabric recognised by the most prestigious style offices and brands, precision and speed in deliveries have marked the way-of-work of half a century of production. Added to these values is the entrepreneurial strategy increasingly oriented towards the offer of custom-made clothing fabrics, designed and made to measure for the client. In particular, Pontex focuses on research and development, sustainability of raw materials, customisation and durability of the final product, to create unique ‘garments’ that last over time and reduce the waste of raw materials.
It is an anniversary, the 50th, which the company wants to live and celebrate only ‘symbolically’ throughout 2022, since the historical period we live in prevents any kind of celebration.
The restyling of the logo, the launching of the face campaign on social profiles, to tell the story of a company that is first and foremost made up of people.
