The Pontex Spring Summer 2023 Collection is committed to making our planet a better place: natural clothing fabrics made from organic and sustainable fibres such as ramie and hemp, for light and comfortable, durable yet fashionable garments

The Pontex Spring Summer 2023 Collection is made of natural raw materials and organic, sustainable fibres such as ramie and hemp, to create light, strong clothing fabrics in a dialogue between sustainability and creation.
Pontex’s 2023 textile productions are respectful of nature and the environment, because the magic word that unites the novelties of the new Collection is only one: sustainable fashion, from the yarn to the finished product.
Ramié
Ramie is a vegetable textile fibre obtained from the stems of some very ancient wild plants of the Urticaceae family, Boehmeria nivea and Boehmeria utilis, which grow mainly in China and Malaysia. From its processing , ramie fabric is produced , very similar to silk and therefore referred to as ‘plant silk’; ramie textile fibre is also known as Chinagrass, or ‘China Grass’.
The characteristics of ramie

Ramie is characterised by itshigh breathability and elasticity, brightness and softness. In order to further increase its strength and brightness in fabrics, it is often blended with other types of fibre (natural or synthetic) such as cotton, hemp, wool, silk and viscose.
It is an elastic fibre and has good resistance to twisting. It does not shrink or fade, and dries easily.
Garments made from ramie
With ramie it is possible to make very special garments, as well as sustainable and eco-friendly, because ramie is a fairly rare textile fibre and its complex processing makes it not always easy to find.
Ramie is an ally fabric of the Pontex Spring Summer 2023 Collection, which focuses on precious and impalpable clothing fabrics, with nuances that recall the cool shade of grey, so popular for creating the perfect trendy and casual chic look.
Hemp
Hemp is a natural, sustainable fibre that can be processed without the use of chemicals. Textile fibres made from hemp are soft and lustrous and make it possible to produce clothing fabrics that are light yet strong, breathable and provide comfort but above all high resistance to abrasion.
To the naked eye, the fabric made from hemp can be confused with linen because of its weave: if we look closely, we can see its subtle variations in thickness.
The characteristics of hemp
Clothing fabrics made from hemp are breathable, hypoallergenic, temperature-regulating, anti-microbial, bright, soft. They are resistant to mites, bacterial growth, mould, termite, chemicals and even fire.
Hemp also dries easily and is able to protect the skin through natural UV filtration.
Garments made from hemp
Hemp can be used to make garments that do not shrink or discolour when subjected to washing. Hemp textile fibre does not, in fact, wear out after each wash as other fabrics do, thanks to its extremely high strength. Moreover, it retains colours better than any other fabric.
Wearing an item of clothing made from hemp means immediately feeling soft and comfortable, in contact with nature, to feel at ease and to protect the environment, for us and for future generations.
Pontex has made hemp its workhorse for the Spring Summer 2023 Collection, fully in tune with green fashion, with clothing fabrics that allow for eco-friendly, low environmental impact garments. The palette is made up of neutral and natural hues, marrying sandy beige, to make our wardrobe sensual and refined, at any time.
Pontex moves away from excessive consumerism to approach the subject of creating with awareness: to look ahead with energy and confidence, in a constant balance between immediate pleasure and sustainability.
