About us

Pontex was born in Emilia-Romagna, in Modena (Italy), a territory in which excellence is a trade mark. It was founded in 1972 by Pio Ferretti, self-made man from Modena who realised his dream as a young seller in the weekly street markets in the Eighties: placing himself in the field of fabric ennobling.
If at the very beginning we focused on fast fashion, we then started to develop a wide proposal of fabrics for clothing in order to meet the market needs, through the two annual Collections, Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter. This is how our expansion all over the world started and Pontex has become one of the best-known realities in the field of the woven fabric for the Made in Italy.
Today Pontex is led by Letizia Ferretti, CEO and managing director, who has developed, with passion and tenacity, an international vocation and extended our commercial net up to include Italy, Europe, USA, China, Korea, Japan, Turkey, Tunisia Maghreb.

The type and weight of our fabrics for clothing ranges from shirt weight (from 100 to 170 grams for linear metre) in voile, high-density cotton, cotton poplin both stretch and fixed, to trousers weight (from 280 to 440 grams for linear metre) available in different structured textures, looks and finishing.

Each fabric can be customised and transformed depending on request. Transformations and finishing are only made by Italian companies: dyeing mills, printing companies, companies specialised in resin-treating, coupling and finishing.

In our 100% Made in Italy proposals, raw materials are produced and processed by Italian companies.

New Collection Fall Winter 25/26

Innovation and quality inspired our new Collection resulting in an attentive search for the best yarns and the use of natural fibres and pigments and refined finishing Hands are warm, comfortable: velvet is the macrotrend of our Capsule, made more precious combined with viscose, cashmere, customised prints and textures. On this fabric, very much loved because warm and soft at hand, we apply new finishing that completes its hand by means of gold and silver coatings and resins, and new tie-dyed and delavè effects that create unique shades. This Collection is also focused on: cottons, gabardine, satin and fabrics with structured texture; fabrics enriched with modal, tencel, rayon and cashmere yarns; resin-treated and coupled fabrics; viscose, silks and gauzes; elastomer cottons; shirt-weight fabrics.  Our new proposals are the result of sophisticated technological research and, thanks to innovative finishing, our fabrics acquire a particular, precious and elegant touch. Our goal is to create unique, sustainable pieces of clothing, that meet the desire of an authentic and refined fashion that is practical and comfortable at the same time. All our fabrics are customisable, concerning colour, finishing and composition.
