Our small support for the Little Big Hearts Project that colours and paints 500 square metres of walls in the Sant’Orsola paediatric cardiac surgery

The one you can see in the photo is called ‘ambulatorio Ghiandaia‘: it is number 2, one of the 8 ambulatories that inhabit the spaces of the Operating Units of Cardiology and Paediatric and Adolescent Cardiac Surgery at the Policlinico di Sant’Orsola IRCCS in Bologna, where around 9000 young patients from all over the country are examined every year and 350 cardiac surgeries are performed.
In this space, coloured and decorated thanks to the Wall Project of the Bologna-based association Piccoli Grandi Cuori, we have left a small mark to make that small seed grow, which will become a sprout thanks to the loving and skilful care of those who welcome and look after it with responsibility, commitment and sacrifice.
A little over a year ago, we chose to join this Project that decorates and colours almost 500 square metres of the Hospital, with a small donation: outpatient clinic number 2 from Thursday 29 September bears our sign inside a plaque that the association has kindly placed inside the space to thank us for this very small gesture of solidarity, together with an apple placed as a fruit on the Donor Tree at the entrance to the Ward.

The project aims to bring beauty into this very important place of care in order to reduce the perception of medicalisation of patients, who are forced to assiduously live the hospital spaces together with their families.
The children and their parents, the youngsters and the patients who become adults, as well as the medical staff, are immersed in a wide-ranging imaginary environment: a nature protagonist, a strongly ecological message that is associated with references to the rural world, thus embracing all peoples in a universal and transversal way.

Many thanks to the association who gave us this valuable opportunity, and thanks to the medical and health staff who care for the little and big heart patients.
“Beauty in healthcare places adds value to medical care, welcoming the patient with greater respect and humanity and starting from a holistic and global dimension.
Wall Project, Little Big Hearts
It contributes to creating a positive image within the hospital, supports the creation of a climate of trust and collaboration, and improves the patient’s healing process”.
